Council Tax rises by 8·6%
To protect and improve Medway Council's front-line services in the face of a range of stealth taxes imposed on us by central government and their continued under-funding of social services, a rise of 8·6% is needed this year—still the lowest increase in Kent. This was agreed by the Full Council on 28th February 2002.
Here are the actual amounts for each Charging Band for 2002–2003
| Band A : | £ | 544·92 | — | Band B : | £ | 635·74 |
| Band C : | £ | 726·56 | — | Band D : | £ | 817·38 |
| Band E : | £ | 999·02 | — | Band F : | £ | 1,180·66 |
| Band G : | £ | 1,362·30 | — | Band H : | £ | 1,634·76 |
Road Repairs Continue
The programme of road (and footpath) repairs begun last year will continue, as promised. The budget for the second year's work was agreed by the Full Council on 28th February 2002.
Many roads—and a few footpaths—within Horsted have already benefited from this programme of work (including—after pressure from me—Holland Road, at last!) and I maintain a schedule of past and present work within this ward.
