In this house an elderly lady was found alone without
food. There is no electricity/gas.
Everything she owns has been destroyed in the flood, & and is
thrown out into the street for destruction! The dark line on the wall shows
where the water has been.
From a nearby town the waterlogged and
irreplaceable belonging of people is collected for destruction.

In the same village as the lady above we find a house,
which has collapsed. Many of the buildings here were made of clay bricks! It is thought that the majority of this village
will need to be bulldozed.
Insurance does not cover for many of the inhabitants, who have lost
everything.
The sign on our vehicle says it all. “Humanitarian Help Salvation Army” this is our
vehicle having just arrived on scene, with supplies of food and camping
stoves, blankets and relief teams.

These pictures were taken on scene of flood relief work on Friday 23rd August. They are by no means the worst scenes of the disaster. One site could not have been worse if a bomb had landed n the middle of the town, - literally everything is destroyed. We seek your prayers and thoughts for these situations and the work, which will continue into the future. Our Physiological and Counselling Support Teams are now waiting to enter the area to support flood victims.
